"Over the years we have seen entire villages destroyed by harsh tropical storms, but every Waffle-Crete building we constructed is still standing."

Affordable Disaster-Resistant Construction
Concrete is the most widely used building material on earth, but cement production is also considered one of the worst emitters of green house gases. Significant scientific studies are under way at MIT and other prominent institutions with the ultimate goal to reduce the amount of energy required to manufacture concrete by up to 50%, and thus decrease carbon emissions by this same amount. While initial results of this research show promise, it may be years before it translates into viable new commercial products.
As the basic research continues, Waffle-Crete can deliver the targeted benefits today simply by reducing the amount of materials needed by 50%.
Many of the best green building materials come at a premium price. But because most construction projects have tight budgetary constraints, it's frequently not possible to employ these products. But the Waffle-Crete system bucks this trend. It actually makes concrete construction far more affordable and far more sustainable at the same time. Here are some of the important sustainability benefits offered by the Waffle-Crete system:
Concrete buildings are known to last much longer and require less maintenance than buildings constructed with other materials. But in many cases, concrete is not selected purely because of cost. Because Waffle-Crete construction is far more affordable than traditional concrete forming methods, the cost to build long-lasting structures can be well within reach. Over time this not only translates into lower building lifecycle costs, but it can also substantially reduce the amount of natural resources that would have been required to maintain the building if it had been constructed with less durable materials.
